Battle of Morgarten
Swiss Confederates ambush Habsburg forces in Morgarten Pass, using the terrain to their advantage to launch a surprise attack.
Setting
Morgarten Pass, a narrow mountain path flanked by steep slopes and dense forests. The ground is uneven, littered with rocks and fallen leaves, with a small lake nearby adding to the treacherous terrain.
Characters
Swiss Militia Leader
primary
A grizzled man in his late 40s, with a wiry frame honed by years of mountain warfare. His deeply tanned face bears a jagged scar across the bridge of his nose, and his piercing blue eyes constantly scan the terrain. Calloused hands grip a well-worn halberd with practiced ease.
Habsburg Knight
primary
A tall, broad-shouldered knight in his late 30s with a weathered but proud face. His piercing blue eyes scan the path ahead with confidence. A thick, well-groomed brown beard covers his square jaw, and his hair is cropped short beneath his helmet. His muscular frame is evident even beneath his armor, honed by years of combat.
Swiss Archer
secondary
A lean, wiry man in his late 20s with sun-weathered skin and keen eyes that have spent years tracking game in the Alpine forests. His hands are calloused from drawing bowstrings, and his dark hair is tied back under a simple cloth cap to keep it from obscuring his vision.
Habsburg Squire
secondary
A lean youth of about 16 years, with tousled brown hair peeking from beneath his padded coif. His face bears the first traces of stubble, and his wide-set hazel eyes dart nervously. His hands, calloused from training but still slender with youth, grip his sword hilt too tightly.
Swiss Axeman
background
A burly fighter in his late 20s with a muscular build, sun-weathered skin, and a thick beard. His hands are calloused from years of wielding heavy weapons, and his eyes are sharp with anticipation. He grips his halberd tightly, the weapon's polished blade reflecting the dim light filtering through the trees.
