Storming of the Tower of London

Peasant rebels led by Wat Tyler storm the Tower of London, breaking past royal guards in a chaotic confrontation, targeting symbols of authority and royal officials.

Setting

The inner courtyard of the Tower of London, a formidable medieval fortress with thick stone walls and narrow passageways. The cobbled ground is uneven, and the air is thick with tension as rebels surge through the gates.

Characters

Wat Tyler
primary
A rugged, middle-aged man with a weathered face, sunken cheeks, and piercing eyes. His sinewy arms suggest a life of hard labor, and a prominent scar runs across his forehead. His dark hair is matted with sweat, and he wears a thick, unkempt beard.
Rebel Peasant
primary
A burly man in his late 30s, with sun-weathered skin and a thick, unkempt beard. His muscular frame, built from years of hard labor, is tense with fury. His hands, calloused and strong, grip a makeshift weapon—a scythe blade lashed to a wooden pole. His dark eyes burn with righteous anger, and a fresh bruise on his cheekbone hints at recent violence.
Royal Guard Captain
secondary
A grizzled veteran in his late 40s, broad-shouldered with a thick beard streaked with gray. His face bears a deep scar across the bridge of his nose, evidence of past battles. His hands are calloused, gripping his sword with practiced ease.
Tower Servant
secondary
A thin, middle-aged man with a gaunt face and sunken eyes, his hands rough from years of labor. His hair is unkempt and streaked with gray, and his posture is slightly hunched from years of servitude. He moves with quick, nervous steps, as if expecting danger at any moment.
Young Rebel
background
A teenage boy, around 15-16 years old, with a wiry build and sunburnt face. His hair is unkempt, streaked with dirt and sweat from the rebellion's march. His hands are calloused from farm work but unused to holding weapons.

Wat Tyler By the sweat of our brows, we demand justice! No more taxes upon taxes!
Rebel Peasant Aye! They've bled us dry like sheep to slaughter! Today, we take what's ours!
Royal Guard Captain Stand down, fools! This is treason against His Majesty's peace!
Wat Tyler Treason? Nay, 'tis justice long overdue! Will you stand with us or die with them?
Rebel Peasant Hark! The gates yield! Forward, brothers! The Tower is ours!
Royal Guard Captain Hold the line, men! Let none pass! Par Dieu, we shall not falter!
Wat Tyler For every drop of sweat and blood they've taken—charge!
