The river of time carries this king away from his palace, as the waters carry autumn leaves from the mountains.

We accept your surrender with the grace God grants to victors. Let Granada now be joined to Christendom.

Archers to the walls! Secure the treasury before dusk!
Boabdil
These eyes that once beheld paradise now see only the dust of exile. Pray Allah grants you mercy where you show none.
Ferdinand II of Aragon
Mercy is God's to give. Ours is the duty to see His will done in Spain.

The Moorish banners are struck, Your Majesty. The cross flies over the Torre de la Vela.
Boabdil
Weep for me, mother. A king who could not keep what his fathers held for seven centuries.
