Battle of the Teutoburg Forest
Germanic tribes led by Arminius ambush three Roman legions under Publius Quinctilius Varus in the dense Teutoburg Forest, exploiting the terrain to trap and overwhelm the disciplined Roman formations.
Setting
Dense, ancient forest of Teutoburg with towering oak and beech trees, their leaves turning golden and brown in the autumn. The forest floor is uneven, covered in thick undergrowth, fallen branches, and patches of mud from recent rains. Narrow, winding trails barely wide enough for Roman formations snake through the trees, hemmed in by dense shrubbery on both sides.
