Death of Cleopatra VII (Suicide)

Cleopatra VII, the last active ruler of the Ptolemaic Kingdom of Egypt, commits suicide by allowing herself to be bitten by an asp, choosing death over submission to Roman conquest.

Setting

Inside Cleopatra's mausoleum in Alexandria, a grand yet somber chamber lined with polished limestone walls and adorned with intricate hieroglyphics. The space is circular with a high, domed ceiling, and the air is heavy with the scent of myrrh and incense. The chamber is dimly lit, with flickering oil lamps casting long shadows across the walls. In the center of the room lies a golden sarcophagus, surrounded by treasures and personal belongings of the queen.

Dialog

Cleopatra VII Daughters of Isis, the hour has come to walk with Anubis. We shall not let Rome make spectacle of our end.
Iras My queen, your ibis flies to the west... Let this unworthy hand guide you to the Field of Reeds.
Charmion This handmaiden has brought the sacred lotus draught to still your limbs, divine mistress. The cobra's kiss will be gentle.
Cleopatra VII Mark Antony waits beyond the veil, but Egypt... Egypt we take with us into the dark.
Iras The Roman boots echo on marble, my lotus flower. Shall we... shall we join the banquet of Osiris together?
Charmion The river has reached its delta. This servant will sweep your chamber one last time before crossing.
Cleopatra VII Then let our deaths be our final decree - written not in ink, but in the stars that will remember.
