Capture of Constantinople by the Fourth Crusade

Crusader forces breach the Theodosian Walls of Constantinople, leading to a desperate last stand by Byzantine defenders. The city is on the verge of being sacked, marking the climax of the Fourth Crus

Setting

The Theodosian Walls of Constantinople, near the Gate of Charisius, where Crusader forces have breached the defenses. The area is littered with debris from the siege engines, broken weapons, and bodies of fallen soldiers. Smoke rises from fires set during the assault, and the sounds of battle echo through the narrow streets beyond the walls.

TNGF
SELECTED
Enrico Dandolo
primary
An aged and blind Venetian nobleman in his late 80s, with a frail but commanding presence. His white hair is thin and wispy, his face deeply lined with age and wisdom. Despite his blindness, his posture remains upright, exuding authority. His milky, sightless eyes seem to stare through those around him.
Crusader Knight
primary
A battle-hardened Frankish knight in his late 30s, with a muscular build and scars visible on his face and hands. His sun-weathered skin and piercing blue eyes reflect years of campaigning. His beard is short and unkempt, streaked with dust and sweat from battle.
Byzantine Commander
secondary
A middle-aged man with a muscular build, his face weathered by years of military service. His dark hair is streaked with grey, and his beard is neatly trimmed. His piercing brown eyes reflect both determination and exhaustion. A deep scar runs from his left temple to his cheekbone, a testament to past battles.
Wounded Soldier
secondary
A young Byzantine conscript, barely out of his teens, with a wiry build and sunken cheeks from months of siege rations. His dark hair is matted with sweat and blood, and his olive skin is pale from blood loss. A deep gash across his abdomen stains his tunic crimson, and his left arm hangs uselessly at his side, a jagged wound visible through torn fabric.
Priest
background
A middle-aged Greek Orthodox priest with a gaunt face, deep-set eyes, and a long, unkempt beard streaked with gray. His posture is slightly hunched from years of prayer and service, and his hands are calloused yet gentle. His skin is weathered, showing the toll of constant devotion and the recent hardships of the siege.
