Setting
The Theodosian Walls of Constantinople, near the Gate of St. Romanus, where the Ottoman forces have breached the defenses. The massive stone walls, once impregnable, now bear the scars of cannon fire and siege engines. Rubble and debris litter the ground, and the air is thick with dust and smoke.
Characters
Constantine XI Palaiologos
primary
A man of noble bearing, around 49 years old, with a strong but weary frame. His dark hair is streaked with grey, and his face bears the lines of stress and determination. His piercing dark eyes reflect both resolve and sorrow. He wears a breastplate over his tunic, dented and scratched from battle, with the remnants of purple imperial cloth visible beneath it.
Byzantine Soldier
secondary
A battle-hardened Byzantine soldier in his late 20s, with a muscular build from years of military training. His face is smeared with dirt and sweat, and a fresh cut on his cheek bleeds slightly. His dark brown eyes are wide with a mix of determination and fatigue, scanning the battlefield for threats. His short black beard is matted with dust, and his hair is tied back in a practical knot.
Ottoman Janissary
secondary
A battle-hardened Janissary in his late 20s with a wiry but muscular build, his face darkened by sun and war. His sharp features bear several minor scars from previous battles, and his dark eyes gleam with a mix of fanaticism and battle-lust. His shaved head (save for a single lock at the top) identifies him as one of Sultan Mehmed II's elite slave-soldiers.
Priest
background
A middle-aged Byzantine priest with a gaunt face, deep-set eyes, and a long, unkempt beard streaked with gray. His hands are calloused from years of prayer and labor, and his posture is slightly hunched from years of devotion. His skin is weathered, showing the toll of the siege and the constant prayers for divine intervention.
